The Secret Compartment!

Yeah, this chair is the bees knees! I friggin love it!  You'll see why!

I found it at an estate sale about a month ago.  Uber creepy.  Apparently the wife had died and the new girlfriend wanted all of her stuff out.  Thanks for telling me gossipy estate sale lady - now I'm creeped out! I did, however try on a pair of the dead lady's sunglasses.  What?! They were awesome - she also had a pair of Ray-ban sunglasses!

I digress - here is the chair is all of it's before glory:

You know the drill - get that nasty fabric off immediately! Gross!

I didn't take any during pictures - not really much to see.  I removed the wheels.  I loved the vintage feel of this chair and the plastic wheels just cheapened it.  I took the seat and the back off so I could remove the old, nasty fabric and reupholster.  I also removed the legs.  Sand, prime, paint, wax. DONE!

Here is where the secret compartment comes in:

Yeah buddy! I imagine this being used as a sewing/craft/music chair! It's quite roomy in there!

Here's a close-up of the fabric - I got it at Joann Fabrics with my 50% off coupon (from my phone app)!

One more - I can't help it!

Here's a sneak peek at one of the trillion projects I'm working on! I LOVE break - so productive!! I'll have projects to post for months!

Cheers!!

  34. Hi Katie! This is such an awesome chair! I work over at Remodelaholic, and we'd like to create a building plan for a chair like this, and, with your permission, use a couple of your photos. Will you email me at hello@remodelaholic.com and we can discuss the details?

    Thanks! Have a great weekend!

  35. I am going to be bold. I have looked for a chair like this for a long time. They're just not made anymore. I remember my mother having one. I am 64 years old so it was a long time ago. My husband says he will make me a chair like this if I can get him plans. I think I could draw them but I need some help. Would you do me a huge favor? I need a tracing of the seat back uprights and a measurement of the height of the chair from floor to top of seat box (not counting cushion. I told you I was gong to be bold. Thank you for you time.
