Owl Cupcakes!

Tomorrow (well, today now) marks the end of another rotation! What?!  Two rotations down already!

I always like to make a little treat for everyone at my rotation site.  I really wanted to make a cake and owl cupcakes, but I ran out of time, so I just made cupcakes.

I googled 'owl cupcakes' and found this image:

Night Owls

I thought these were adorable and just HAD to try these!

I used:

-Lifesavers Sour Gummies for the eyes
-Gingersnaps for the ears and wings
-Butterscotch and chocolate morsels for the pupils
-Almonds for the nose

Confetti cupcakes with rainbow sprinkle frosting is my favorite!

While your cupcakes are cooking, use a knife to cut your gingersnaps.  I cut 1/3 of the gingersnap for one ear, and the other 2/3 was for the wing.  Repeat this 48 times.  It goes fast, I promise!

Now take your lifesaver gummies and your morsels.  Shove a morsel into each lifesaver until it stays put.

Let the cupcake cool and frost it!

Take the 2/3 section of your gingersnaps and place one on either side of the cupcake, with the cut edge facing the middle.

Now take the 1/3 part of your gingersnap and shove it into the cupcake above the wings.  Have the straight edge facing out.

Lay down your almond, then put your eyes on top and you're done!  A blob of frosting on the back of the eyes helps them stay in place.

If I make these again I'll use plain vanilla frosting and dye the frosting different colors.  I'll also try to find a darker flat cookie, but this was all I could find last minute!

Cheers!
