After I made my Harry Potter shirt yesterday I immediately started thinking about what shirt I wanted to do next! Yeah, I'm a little addicted. And I'm obsessed with birds, so birds it was!
I thought about making a "Bird is the Word" shirt (one of my favoirte family guy episodes) but eventually decided I just wanted a cute bird. Here is the one I found on google.
It was love at first sight. Simple, adorable. I wanted it. Then the more I looked at it, the more I wanted to add a fabric embellishment on my shirt! So I used the same method for this shirt as I did for my Harry Potter shirt to make the stencil. Rather than print out the bird I just freehanded it onto a piece of paper.
This time I only put on two coats of paint. I wanted it to be more thin so some of the shirt color would show through and create a pale aqua bird. Before the paint dried I slapped on the fabric wing.
After the paint was dry I stitched around the pink and yellow fabric with turquoise stitching for contrast! I L-O-V-E it!!
Oh, and excuse the poor photo quality. I didn't get to take my photos til late and the lighting in my house sucks at night. I was too excited to wait!
Speaking of birds - I made a special trip out to the Berry Hill goodwill in Nashville today because I heard it was awesome. Yeah, not so much. Maybe for clothes, but their furniture was sparse. I didn't walk away empty handed though! I found this hiding on a lower shelf:
Is that precious or what?! I couldn't wait to get home and paint it. I was feeling lazy so I just used some spray paint. Here it is now with its minature friend (which is actually part of a salt and pepper shaker set)!
Excuse my dusty table - gotta clean tomorrow.
So I got to complete some small projects today, but they made me super happy!
Cheers!
